Denture Reline/ Rebase/ Softline

Denture Reline, Rebase, and Softline are procedures performed on existing dentures to improve their fit, comfort, and functionality. Here's an explanation of each:

Denture Repair/Reline

Denture Reline: Over time, the bone and soft tissues in your mouth can change, leading to changes in the fit of your dentures. Denture reline is a process in which the inner surface of the denture is resurfaced with a new layer of denture material. This helps to improve the fit and comfort of the denture by creating a better seal and reducing any discomfort or looseness. There are two types of denture reline:

a. Hard Denture Reline: In a hard reline, the denturist uses a rigid material, such as acrylic, to reline the denture. The existing denture is modified by removing a thin layer of the interior surface and replacing it with the new material. This procedure is typically done in a dental laboratory.

b. Soft Denture Reline: Soft reline involves the use of a pliable material that is placed on the inner surface of the denture. This material is softer and more flexible, providing additional cushioning and comfort. Soft relines are beneficial for individuals with sensitive gums or bony ridges.

c. Denture Rebase: Denture rebase is a process in which the entire base of the denture is replaced with a new one, while keeping the existing teeth. This is typically done when the denture teeth are still in good condition but the base material has worn out or become damaged. Rebasement helps to restore the fit, stability, and aesthetics of the denture.
